By employing a combustion pressure sensor that can handle continuous operation, the SEC pressure monitor is the world’s first to achieve on-line monitoring of internal engine cylinder pressure.
Although in high demand, engine combustion pressure monitors remained unavailable for years simply because there was a lack of combustion pressure sensors that could handle continued operation. Exploiting its proprietary technology, SEC has succeeded in developing a sensor that will stand up to continuous use.
Based on a unique detection principle, the SEC pressure sensor solved many problems left unanswered by other pressure sensors, such as degradation due to heating of the sensing element and internal blockages caused by combustion byproducts. The SEC pressure monitor basically consists of three blocks?a combustion pressure sensor mounted on each cylinder, a local unit near the engine, and a monitor installed in the engine control room.
